Is there a minimum attendance?
We suggest that your child attends the outdoor nursery for a minimum of 2 days per week. This will allow time for your child to become familiar and comfortable with the staff, routines and other children at the setting. We are happy to discuss this further with you to consider your child’s particular needs.
Do you do half day sessions?
No, we don’t offer half day sessions. This is because we are often out and about in the countryside and we don’t want to have to rush the children back for lunch time if they are engaged in play.
Do you accept the 15 or 30 hours free child care?
Yes we will accept these if you are eligible, however only the 9am – 4:30pm session can be paid with this funding. The hours from 8am to 9am and from 4:30pm to 5.30pm are charged at a rate of £5/hour.
Do you stay outside in all weathers?
Yes. Being outside and experiencing all seasons and all weathers provides an ever-changing environment which enriches and inspires the children’s learning experiences. Through this experience, the children build resilience and learn how to look after themselves in all weathers. When children are dressed appropriately, they will play and be happy whatever the weather. This is why it is vital that children MUST be dressed appropriately. We have put together a separate kit list to support you to make sure your child is appropriately dressed in all weathers. We have the poly tunnel so children can choose to have shelter or we can put tarpaulins up in the wood. The only time we will seek more permanent shelter is in high winds and thunderstorms when we have access to a building on the farm. If this amount is difficult to pay for as a one-off amount, please talk to us about how we can help.
My child still has a nap – can you cater for this?
Yes, children will be given the chance to rest whenever they need it. If a longer sleep is required, children can choose to sleep in a sling, hammock or on a roll mat with a blanket.
Do you provide nappies?
Yes, we provide eco-friendly nappies and wipes. However, you may provide your own nappies if you prefer to use a particular brand.
Where do the children go to the toilet?
In our polytunnel, we will have two camping toilets in toilet tents for the children to use. These are also very portable so can be taken on our adventures to the wood. We also have a hand washing station with warm water.
